At last, I hold my first bouquet of mimosa flowers this year! The golden bloom of mimosa graces the Côte d'Azur in January and February, casting its enchantment across Provence. The beauty of these flowers is nothing short of captivating, accompanied by a delicate, powdery fragrance. Absolutely delightful!
Originally imported from Australia, mimosa has found a new home in the heart of Provence. Today, this acacia plant is predominantly cultivated in Australia, South Africa, and the southern regions of France.
Beyond being a visual delight, this golden flower is a significant economic asset for the region, with over 200 tons globally marketed, especially in the perfume industry.
Since 2001, the touristically crafted Mimosa Route unfolds over 130 km from Bormes-les-Mimosas to Grasse, revealing the essence of mimosa in eight stages. Here, one immerses oneself in the captivating world of these golden flowers. Additionally, numerous events await, notably the flower parade in Bormes-les-Mimosas.
Why is this flower so adored? Beyond its irresistible scent and visual allure, it holds a cherished place as a symbol of renewal and spring. Its vibrant, sun-yellow blossoms promise warmth and light, mirroring the picturesque backdrop of the Côte d'Azur. The mimosa emerges as a radiant ambassador, heralding the renewing beauty that accompanies the end of winter.
