Life presents moments that remind us of the profound value in life's simple pleasures. For me, one such moment arises when I venture outdoors with my daughter, seeking out small adventures and hidden treasures. Our immediate surroundings offer a wealth of discoveries, and it's remarkable how often we stumble upon the unexpected.
Take, for instance, the time we stumbled upon a concealed statue of Mary on the adjacent property. It only came into view following a significant clearing effort. Previously shrouded by dense foliage, it's astonishing that such a treasure lay concealed in our neighborhood for so long.
Adjacent to the statue, a small water basin revealed itself, adorned with the engraved message: "Carpe Diem." Personally, the Latin phrase evokes nostalgia for the '90s—

a sentiment reminiscent of a cliché slogan found on a school notebook.
Yet, when considering the historical agricultural use of these lands, the phrase takes on a deeper significance. More than a century ago, local farmers sought to remind themselves to seize the day and cherish the moment. It's a notion both poignant and timely, serving as a gentle reminder for us all. Perhaps it's high time we revive the sentiment of "Carpe Diem"!
